Biography

Drowning Pool is an American nu-metal and hard rock band formed in Dallas, Texas in 1996. The band was founded by guitarist C.J. Pierce, bassist Stevie Benton, and drummer Mike Luce, later joined by vocalist Dave Williams. Their aggressive sound and high-energy performances quickly made them a force in the nu-metal scene of the early 2000s.

The band achieved massive success with their platinum-certified debut album "Sinner" in 2001, which featured the iconic track "Bodies." The song became an anthem for extreme sports, wrestling, and military personnel, and remains one of the most recognizable nu-metal songs of all time. Its aggressive energy and powerful message resonated with millions of fans worldwide.

Tragedy struck in 2002 when original vocalist Dave Williams passed away on tour. Despite this devastating loss, the band persevered, continuing with new vocalists Jason "Gong" Jones (2003-2005), Ryan McCombs (2005-2011), and Jasen Moreno (2012-present). Each vocalist brought their own style while maintaining the band's signature heavy sound.

Drowning Pool has released seven studio albums: "Sinner" (2001), "Desensitized" (2004), "Full Circle" (2007), "Drowning Pool" (2010), "Resilience" (2013), "Hellelujah" (2016), and "Strike a Nerve" (2022). Their music has been featured extensively in WWE programming, UFC events, and major sports broadcasts, cementing their place in rock culture.

Known for their relentless touring and dedication to their fans, Drowning Pool has performed at major festivals including Ozzfest and toured with bands like Disturbed, Godsmack, and Rob Zombie. Their resilience and commitment to heavy music has earned them respect as one of the most enduring acts from the nu-metal era.
